Wildlife Areas

Almer Noyd Wildlife Area

23 acres of wooded upland, including a gravel pit and river floodplain along the North Raccoon River. Bird & wildlife watching are favorite activities in this area.  Hunting for whitetail deer, turkey and waterfowl is of interest. Fishing adds to the many outdoor recreational opportunities available.

Eden Prairie Recreation Area

 

This 47 acres lies along the Boyer River. The area is managed as a wildlife area open to hunting. Eden Prairie is made up of 3 gravel pits encompassed with a mixture of hard and soft deciduous trees and a few grassy areas.  Individuals can enjoy fishing the pits or watching the waterfowl.

Lubeck Woods

​

Lubeck Woods is a 45 acre wildlife management area that is open to public hunting. It's heavily wooded & very hilly with a small oxbow on the property. The area has an abundant wildlife population of whitetail deer, squirrels and turkeys. In wet years, waterfowl is also abundant. Hiking, morel & nut gathering are just a few of the outdoor activities that takes place.

The Maples Area

 

This five acre rest area is a perfect place to get out and stretch your legs for a short walk or take in a picnic.  This strictly a primitive area with a small parking area.

McDonald Greenbelt

​

The 123 acres is managed as a wildlife area. It lies along the North Raccoon River and is mostly wooded uplands consisting of oaks, walnuts and maples. An abandon railroad right-of-way runs northwesterly from the property and is also a SCCB managed area. The lowland is mainly grassy riparian area. Park visitors may take in morel hunting or bird watching, while others may find an abundance of whitetailed deer and wild turkey to hunt.  One may also enjoy canoeing or fishing for walleye, channel catfish and smallmouth.

Vogel Access

​

Vogel Access is 40 acres of timber & grassland along the North Raccoon River. The area is managed as a wildlife area is open for public hunting, trapping & fishing. Pheasant, deer, turkey, small game, & furbearers are sought after in this area.

Whitetail Woods

​

This 55 acre tract is managed as a wildlife management area that is mostly wooded with a native grass plot. The North Raccoon River runs through the northeast corner of the property allowing one to fish for channel catfish, small mouth & walleye.  Many outdoor enthusiast go hunting for whitetail deer, wild turkey & pheasant in the area.  There are plenty of opportunities to photograph many species of birds and other small game while hiking the timber.

North Raccoon River Wildlife Heritage Corridor

This 80 acres is managed as a wildlife area. 80 acres along the North Raccoon River situated North of Vogel Access. The land is a mixture of floodplain, forest and grassland. Outdoorsman will find opportunity for hunting whitetail deer, pheasants and fishing in the river.
